First Line K9 has greatly improved not only my dog’s behavior, but our relationship as well.

I rescued a Rhodesian Ridge back mix around 7 months old, and with no prior training, she needed a lot of work. My main concern was her behavior at the dog park. Once inside, she would completely ignore me. I was referred to Jamaul at First Line K9. For our initial meeting, he wanted to observe Lila’s behavior at the dog park. After a few minutes, he explained to me what was going on, why she was doing these things and not listening, and then went briefly over how we were going to fix it. A couple weeks later, she is a whole new Pup! She listens, and puts her focus on me when I need her to. Now while in the dog park, I can call her to me and she comes running. She also executes commands with no hesitation! Thank you First Line K9.

I have a chocolate lab named Dennis who is almost 4 years old. For the past couple of years my husband and I have struggled to take him out in public due to his anxiety with strangers and dogs. On a leash, he would pull me to pee on trees and jerk me around everywhere and there were a few occasions where he knocked me down. I had enough and just thought maybe once he calms down in a few years he will be better. I would take my other two dogs on walks and it would break my heart to leave Dennis at home. While talking to my husband, we finally decided that we couldn’t live with keeping Dennis confined to our home. We needed to do something. I spent a couple days doing some research on different places and looked at what they offered and for how much. I didn’t want to leave my dog for weeks at a time. It was too much money and I wanted to be a part of his growth. So many “well known” training places were too expensive and I didn’t really want a chained company. I wanted someone who cared and loved what they did to help dogs. I came across First Line K9 when I searched “dog trainers near me” in google. FLK9 was the first to pop up. I looked at his site, read testimonials, watched his videos and saw he was local so I decided to send him an email. Within a few hours Jamaul got back to me and told me to text him so we could chat about Dennis. I told him a few things about Dennis and he decided to call me and we chatted and he asked some questions. He told me he wanted to meet Dennis to get a better idea of how he was. A few days later we met Jamaul at the park. He was able to assess Dennis and tell us what he needed. He gave us the option to do single sessions or take him for a few weeks to train. We decided to do single sessions. I was surprised at the price and wanted to start straight away. Jamaul was calm and I could tell Dennis was feeding off his energy. Dennis did so well and I knew this would be the right fit. We have been doing 2 a week sessions (1 hour each) for almost a month and a half now and Dennis has come such a long way. Each hour Jamaul has a specific plan in mind for what we will work on. He wanted to build his confidence with obedience training so he feels comfortable being in different places and scenarios. Dennis knew the basics so it was easy for him to grow on what he already knew. Between Jamaul coming to our house and meeting at the park, Dennis has come so far. I never thought Dennis would be off leash playing in the park working on commands without being nervous or scared of people or dogs walking past. Jamaul gives me homework each session so Dennis and I can practice before we see him again. He has taught me that it’s not just a dog’s behavior but also my behavior and energy I give off and that there are things I need to be doing in order to help my dog be successful and listen to me. I have seen such a change in my dog and I am so thankful I took the leap and emailed Jamaul. He is so knowledgeable, caring, punctual and patient. I’m constantly bugging him by sending him videos and texting him about what me and Dennis are doing. He gives me feedback and praise and I’m so excited to see what more Dennis can do with the guidance of Jamaul.

I have a pitbull/Belgian Malinois mix, which is a very high-energy dog. When I was initially looking for a trainer Jamal offered a free consultation. This was the thing that I noticed because when looking for a trainer not only does the trainer have to be a good fit with the dog also has to be a good fit. My puppy attended weekly training. He would pull, jump, and bite the leash and walking an 80 lb dog with these behaviors was impossible. We also set up scenarios specific to my dogs needs lime taking him to the park or pet store. My dog now has a better quality of life and is able to go on walks daily. And as an owner I can enjoy my puppy more when he is behaving. Jamal has also offered boarding services for my puppy. I'm extremely comfortable with leaving him while away on vacation because my puppy already knows Jamal and is comfortable with him. I truly believe if I had not received this training for my puppy there's a good chance that I may not still on him because of his previous out of control behaviors. I am truly grateful for finding Jamal and the services he has provided. I would absolutely recommend him looking for a dog trainer
